Samsung steals iPhone ad actress for Galaxy Tab commercial

The design of the iPad itself does not appear to be the only Apple product Samsung intends on “slavishly” copying. Samsung’s latest ad released last week came under scrutiny for its obvious inspiration taken from Apple commercials that came before it. However, it is not just the overall look and feel that was copied. Samsung now removed the ad after Google+ user Cheryl Lindo Jones (via TNW) discovered the ad uses the same actress as an iPhone 4S ad.

Both ads feature the same girl throughout testing the features of each device in a similar manner. The Samsung ad is above, and the Apple iPhone 4S ad is below for comparison. Samsung has not commented on whether this is the official reason why the video was removed from their YouTube channel.

 

Samsung’s latest advertisements for their Galaxy line of smartphones and tablets received considerable attention for their not-so subtle mocking of iPhone users. First, the company released an ad for the Galaxy S II smartphone depicting disgruntled iPhone users waiting in line while gawking in amazement at a passing S II user.

Samsung continued their anti-Apple campaign with the “Cutting edge vs. Old School” ad on its U.S. Facebook page showing an iPhone in the “old school” category next to a 80s era cellphone and two cans attached with string. Another recent ad returns to the iPhone line-sitter concept and starts with a Galaxy S II user asking: “You guys are still here?” The user then compared cloud services on the two devices.

Samsung and Apple have been tangled in legal cases for months in several countries abroad related to Apple’s claims that Samsung “slavishly” copied the design of the iPad with their Galaxy Tab Android tablets. Most recently temporary bans in place in Australia were overturned, while similar bans in Germany are also expected to be overturned after Samsung agreed to modify the device to workaround Apple’s patents.

Last month, following bans in Australia being overturned, Samsung ran an ad in the Sun-Herald newspaper marketing the Galaxy Tab as the “the tablet Apple tried to stop.”
